MetLife Foundation was set up in 1976 by MetLife, Inc., the leader and global insurance giant and one of the leading financial providers. Metropolitan Life Insurance Company is not a one-sided financial insurance company. But always take an active part in any social and public works, such as charity & donation programs, giving scholarship, grant, award, etc, for the needy ones. MetLife Foundation Grants

MetLife Foundation grants are given to the outstanding social organizations for their contribution in the welfare and well-being of the communities. Any organizations who meet the eligibility criteria can go for an online grant application for their organization from the relevant source.

Then the requests of grant applications will be carefully reviewed and evaluated by MetLife Foundation along with the Board of Directors. For the year 2010, the MetLife Foundation Grants goes to Twelve Local Food Banks. In response to the community works done by Food Banks and their partners, Dennis White (the President and CEO of MetLife Foundation) cited as “We are pleased to support their work, which is vital to community health and well-being. Food banks and their partners play a critical role in meeting the needs of communities’ most vulnerable residents – children, older adults, and the economically disadvantaged.”

The MetLife Foundation Healthy Kids is a special program for the children to make them stay healthy and strong in the entire world. They also have a Creative Aging Program to develop and expand their participation in the arts programs for older adults. The MetLife Foundation has lent the helping hands to the National Staff Development Council's Standards for Staff Development.

MetLife foundation awards can be categorized into many ways. They recognize and give awards for excellence in Affordable Housing, research in Alzheimer's disease, and Outstanding Educators and Citizens through MetLife Foundation Ambassadors in Education Award Program including Community College Excellence award for the colleges recognize for service to students, communities and service through innovation. MetLife Foundation has grants and awards for Out-of-School Time Initiative.
