Hong Leong Bank Berhad name came into existence only when MUI Bank Berhad was acquired by Hong Leong Group Malaysia in 1994. To be precise, Hong Leong Bank history can be traced back to 1905 when it began its operations in Kuching, Sarawak. It was founded by Mr. Lam Ji Chiew and headquartered at Kuching. But later in 1982, the head office was relocated from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this day, Hong Leong Bank has involved in several mergers and acquisitions with several companies.
