Bank of Baroda History

Bank of Baroda was founded by Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the then Mahajarah of Baroda, on 20th July 1908. Together with 13 other commercial banks, Bank of Baroda was nationalized by the Indian Government on 19th July 1969. In 2005, Reserve Bank of India approved a joint venture between Bank of Baroda, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Bank of Maharastra to establish a bank in Malaysia. The bank also opened representative office in Thailand and offshore banking unit in Singapore in 2006. Later in 2008, Bank of Baroda opened a branch office in Guangzhou, China. The bank further gets registered with Reserve Bank of New Zealand thereby enabling it to begin trade as an independent bank in New Zealand.
