Axis Bank, formerly called UTI Bank, had started its operations in the year 1994, after the Indian Government permitted new private banks to be recognized. The bank had a net profit of Rs. 1,812.93 crores & a total income of Rs. 13,745.04 crores as on March 31, 2009.
